LISTER, developed by Honeybee Robotics, a Blue Origin company, measures the heat flow from inside the Moon by assessing the thermal gradient and conductivity of the lunar subsurface. It uses pneumatic drilling with a specialized needle to take multiple readings up to 2-3 meters deep.

The technology is being developed in collaboration with Professor Seiichi Nagihara, the instruments’ principal investigator from Texas Tech University. LISTER is one of the payloads on Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1.
